The Dan moi is the traditional jaw harp of the Meo (Hmung) Mountain people of Vietnam.
This pocket sized instrument will go everywhere with you. Hand made by a small number of excellent local craftsman the Dan Moi is made of finely crafted brass, and beautifull bright fabric covered case. The Vietnamese jew harp has an amazing almost endless variety of sounds rich in overtones, as the mouth and tongue have a much greater range of freedom then other Jew Harps. The sounds are created shape of the mouth and tongue along with slight in out air pressure as the other hand plucks the harp. One of the traditional uses Amongst the Hmong people the Jew harp was used by lovers to express feelings that words were inadequate.
The Dan moi is very intuitive to play and very meditative, used through a Microphone, looper and effects pedal it can sound like a full rave.
